How to do Energy Touch Healing with your Hands that’s Not Spiritual provides a tool for reducing pain and increasing movement & energy flow. With these methods, we can support our digestive tract, targeting specific areas that may need support.
Although Reiki and other forms of spiritual healing with one’s hands have become very popular, not everyone prefers this spiritual approach to healing. In fact, the body is energetic. The world is energetic. We can use negative ions to do energy healing with our hands that’s not spiritual.
The difference between Energy Touch healing and Reiki
While Reiki and what we’re doing here are really different, it’s easy to confuse the two. Both use the hands to bring about improved well being in the body.
But, Reiki is more spiritually-based, while the touch therapy we’re doing is completely based in physics (and how God created the universe to function).
Reiki does not require a practitioner, but often does use one. It seeks to balance the “vital life force energy” that is said to flow through all living things.
Reiki may be used for a variety of health conditions, including serious health diagnoses and one’s emotional and mental health.
Most Reiki practitioners draw their power from a higher power. This is usually spiritual but often is not specific to one spirituality: “Reiki practitioners act as a conduit between you and the source of the universal life force energy. The energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to you.” (source)
For many, Reiki is impractical:
- It’s expensive to hire a practitioner.
- There is a leap of faith required: as in, does it work, and what are the spiritual forces?
- Reiki is often used for major health concerns. (We use the energy touch healing I’m discussing here for smaller issues, usually.)
- Many people’s personal spiritual choices conflict with the “higher power” beliefs of their practitioner or Reiki in general.
- Reiki can feel like a big choice in one’s healthcare.
Why spiritual healing is not always a good fit
Because I believe in one God, I am not interested in harnessing other “higher powers”. Nor do I ask God to address/heal every little daily health complaint.
I believe in an energetic world. With my intellect, I can harness these physical truths for wellness. I am not opposed to spiritual healing. Instead, I am a spiritual being and know I can use the laws of physics myself toward daily wellness.
Of course, someone who is anti-spiritual or skeptical of all things spiritual may also use energy touch healing.
Benefits of energy touch therapy
The kind of energy healing we’re doing here is SUPER easy and fast.
There’s no expense, no risk or commitment, and anyone can do it in just seconds, anywhere, anytime.
With a simple touch, we can shape the flow of energy in our bodies.
This method is great for little pains, chronic issues and daily aggravations. While someone may choose a Reiki practitioner for a major health challenge, this energetic healing addresses small blocks in energy flow.
How non-spiritual energy healing works
The palms of human hands have a positive electric charge.
The backs of our hands have a negative charge.
(I learned this from Dr. Smith of LymeStop who uses his insights to help heal his patients of Lyme Disease.)
When we use the back of our right hand on the top of our head (connecting our brain) in conjunction with the fingertips of the left hand at the site that needs energy, we create a current path.
The brain is “told” or made aware that it needs to pay attention or send energy to that site.
Please see the photos throughout this article for examples of where to place the fingers of your left hand.
How I figured out non-spiritual energy healing
After seeing Dr. Smith use his method to recognize parasites, bacteria and viruses, I thought the same method might be used to cause movement in the GI tract.
I tried it on myself in many different circumstances and on different locations, and had amazing results.
How to begin energy touch healing
You’ll love how easy this is:
1. — Start by placing your right hand upside down on the top of your head.
Where to place your left hand
2.– Place two to three fingertips from your left hand where ever you have discomfort or want movement:
- In the esophagus throat area — This location can be used when pills get stuck in your throat, if you’re coughing or something feels stuck.
- In the esophagus-mid-chest area — If something feels stuck here, again, like pills or food. To support the peristalsis or movement of the esophagus. Also for heartburn and other symptoms.
- In the esophagus area before it meets the stomach — To support this valve closing for better digestion, prevent acid reflux, encourage movement in the area. (Also consider bitters and not too big of meals to close this valve properly for best digestion.) Also for heartburn.
- Above the stomach point or where the esophagus meets the stomach — To support digestion and address upper stomach pain.
- Over the appendix area — Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix. Getting movement in this area can reduce inflammation and pain and may prevent a serious health concern. (Enemas also help to create movement from the other end.)
Appendix support and appendicitis
Yes, energy healing with your hands may also be used to support your appendix.
If you ever have sluggish digestion, eat a really big or high fat meal and have pain or discomfort in the area of your appendix and want to support movement in that area — to prevent stagnation and inflammation of this organ — you may use your fingers over this spot to create movement.
You may experience gurgling and actually feel movement and relief beneath your finger tips. Also gas.
Of course, do not avoid going to the doctor or hospital if appendicitis is suspected. This method of digestive support is not intended to replace a professional’s care.
How-to conclusion
How to do Energy Touch Healing with your Hands that’s Not Spiritual is a tool for reducing pain, increasing movement & supporting digestion.
Whenever you feel discomfort anywhere in your GI tract:
- Place the back of your right hand on the top of your head.
- Then place your index and middle finger from your left hand over the spot you want movement.
- Hold your fingers there for a minimum of 5 seconds, but up to one minute.
- Observe if you feel movement beneath your fingers.
- Remove fingers, and continue to stay tuned in for movement: This may be gas! Or, it may be movement directly in the area you’ve just touched. Watch for a reduction in pain, or no more pain at all, gurgling, physical movement in other areas of your GI tract, feelings of relief.
Let me know in the Comments section below your thoughts and the results you get from energy touch therapy!
How to do energy touch healing on someone else
This method may be helpful to do on someone else if they are elderly, disabled or a child.
- Touch your left hand’s fingers wherever they have pain or need energy and movement — while: the back of your right hand is positioned on top of their head.
You are connecting their brain with their pain or area that needs energy and movement.
How to use energy healing for long term chronic issues
Try using this method for chronic digestion issues, constipation and more.
Using the energy healing method, touch the area or areas that need movement two separate times daily, such as morning and evening, or more if you remember. Experiment a bit with locations and what areas of movement seem to help most. Watch for improvements in digestion and regularity.

Wow, thank you! Please please do more posts on this subject !!!!! I believe as you do, and this is truly fascinating. Would love to know some of these things for really every facet of health!

Yes, I am a spirit in a body that I can use physical laws to help with. No woo-woo, heebee-geebies. Simply how the Triune God made the world to function oh so well, when we apply His laws!
Hélène says
Gotta tell ya lol my first spot I attempted this? My upper, outer arm. That’s where I’ve been rly hurting for days so immediately I wanted this spot to chill out.
Try THAT with that arm palm up on ur head! ?
Kim says
Interesting! I have a question though…If I wanted to use this principle on someone else, for example for an elderly person who may not have the flexibility to put their arm above their head, or on a child…How would that be done? Can I use my right hand and left fingers to create that ‘circuit’?
Megan says
Hi Kim, great question, and I’ll add the answer/that information to the post as well. Yes, exactly. This is part of what Dr. Smith did with my friend who received his treatment. You may use your left hand’s fingers — while the back of your right hand is positioned on the top of the other person’s head. So you are connecting their brain with their pain or area that needs energy and movement.
Kim says
Thanks Megan! I will keep this in mind & try it out sometime.
Megan says
Great, Kim, happy to help!

II do EFT but this marvelous technique is even faster and easier! Thank You so much!
Megan says
Yay, so glad, Pat, and you’re welcome! 🙂

Thank you so much, Megan, for writing this article! I too believe in one God and Savior, and have been reluctant to try some of the Eastern spiritual exercises. I have recently been having acid reflex and bloating. I’m hoping these techniques will help me! You are a real inspiration to me! ?
Megan says
Hi Kelli, you’re welcome! I hope you indeed find it helpful! 🙂 Let me know if you want any tips for diet or supplements to help, too.

I’m glad to have this tip for an effective way to help with any issues, and have been den trying it with some possible benefits already. It’s good to have the pictures to help with target areas. I wish I had known about this about two years ago when I was choking on two large pills; that was an ordeal I wouldn’t want to repeat, so this is a good tool to have!!
Megan says
Good, Dorothy, so glad it’s helpful!! 🙂 Sorry about the pills getting stuck; that also happened to my dad, and it is scary and painful.
Dorothy says
Thanks, I guess it was actually three years ago. I think I aspirated a small amount of material from the pills, and became sick from it. But thankfully it was better within a couple of weeks.
Megan says
Oh goodness, so scary! and so glad you recovered fine.
Jaclyn says
Okay, I read this yesterday when it came up in my feed. I was a little sceptical, but figured since it’s not in conflict with my spiritual beliefs, and I had literally nothing to lose, I decided I would try it. WOW! It actually makes a remarkable difference! I don’t know why I’m so surprised, considering my food intolerances were diagnosed through applied kinesiology, but maybe it’s because *I* can just do it. In any case, I’m so happy to add this to my toolbox, and even my husband is reaping the benefits. ❤️
Megan says
Thank you so much for sharing, Jaclyn, and I’m SO glad!! 🙂

What you are showing here in the pictures is/similar to the first steps of the median sequence of an energy medicine that I use called TKM. It was developed in Japan based on acupuncture pathways and quantum physics and brought to the U.S . after WW2. A Christian Dr., Glenn King has written textbooks on these pathways and the different body systems that they help. This method has helped me alot in my healing journey.
Megan says
Thanks for sharing, Linda!
Deb says
I was thinking the same as Linda! Dr Glenn King has helped our family’s healing journey too. He gives God all credit and glory. Along the way my reticence and skepticism has been replaced by awe and wonder at how God has intricately designed us. He is the author of all truth no matter who takes credit for it or how it is distorted.
Megan says
Thanks, Deb!
Mariana says
I love your technique and I thank you for sharing it with us. I also love all your recipes!! 🙂 But, I just wanted to add a note. “Being a spiritual person is synonymous with being a person whose highest goal is to be loving to oneself and others”. I think you are confusing spiritual with religious.
“Reiki is a healing art with origins in Japan. The word “reiki” comes from the Japanese word “Rei,” which means universal life, and “Ki”, which means energy. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things.”
Reiki does NOT cure illnesses or disease. It helps the body go in a state of peace and relaxation so that it can restore itself. When the body is on a fight or flight state due to stress, it does not allow your immune system to work properly. Reiki will create the opportunity for the body to heal.
Megan says
Hi Mariana, so glad you love the technique, and I’m so happy to share it. It may be an issue of semantics, too. I consider the word spiritual to mean anything to do with the spirit world and our belief systems about the supernatural and the universe, the purpose of life and who created us/why we’re here. Religious I define as practices that may or may not be based in true spiritual faith. So for me, Reiki is spiritual, because it calls on a higher power as the source of healing/improved wellness. Because that source is not necessarily the only God I call on, it doesn’t feel right to me to try and access that form of healing/restoration. While not all Reiki practitioners are spiritual by your definition, the view of life energy is slightly different than my view of how the universe works. It may also depend on the practitioner their view of how Reiki works. The practitioner I have talked to, the material I read and the documentaries I’ve watched on it did emphasize the spiritual side and the healing sides of Reiki. But, I knew when I made that contrast, it might not be a helpful contrast for everyone, so I’m sorry to add confusion to the topic. It’s true that apart from any comparisons, this energy touch method stands on its own! So hopefully, we can separate this method from the Reiki contrast for those that don’t find that helpful or necessary! 🙂

I’m so glad I stumbled on this post. I love Dr. Smith. He’s amazing. Such a wonderful sweet man. I’ve been treated by him multiple times.
Thanks for sharing. Do you have tips and techniques for treating other things?
Love your heart and belief. Same. Ditto.
Megan says
Hi Leslie, great to hear about your connection with Dr. Smith! 🙂 Yes, if you look around my blog at the other DIY health articles, I have many. None are healing with one’s hands like this one, but there are so many articles here that are unique to what I’ve personally learned in my health journey. A lot of them are dietary, because that’s so important (see the low A concept), some are tinctures (see gentian bitters), or scroll here to see a lot of titles, to see what interests you: https://eatbeautiful.net/category/health-nutrition/ Best wishes and so glad to have you here! 🙂

Thanks for posting! When I saw the pictures I immediately saw those positions as part of the Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese acupressure) ‘Main Central Flow’ holds series that I use frequently. It’s great to have these non-spiritual techniques & simply acknowledge that God has given the energy & ability.
Megan says
Thanks for sharing that, Carlton! I appreciate the encouragement, and I’m so glad it’s helpful. 🙂
