This recipe is refined sugar-free, so it works great for clean eating, real food diets, including Vegan, Gluten-free, Paleo, AIP, Low Carb/Keto and more.
Ask in the Comments if you’re not sure how to adapt it for your needs.
Frosting for One Ingredients
Just 3 ingredients:
- coconut oil, butter or palm shortening (or even lard, if you prefer) — Your fat needs to be room temperature and spreadable, not melted, and not cold/hard.
- cocoa/cacao powder — Or if you prefer to use carob powder (toasted), it works great, too!
- pure maple syrup — Or if you prefer to use agave or honey, those are fine, too.
How to make Chocolate Frosting for One
To make frosting for one person, simply follow this ratio for the ingredients:
- 2 parts soft, room temperature fat (butter, lard, or coconut oil) + 1 part cocoa powder (or toasted carob powder) + 1 part maple syrup or honey
And, this one Instruction step:
- Stir together well.
That’s it. Make sure your fat is not melted, nor cold and hard.
To make one small single serving: Your recipe might look like this (depending on the personal ingredients you choose) and the amount you want:
- 1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon soft butter, 2 teaspoons cocoa powder + 2 teaspoons maple syrup. You can also add a teeny pinch of sea salt and a drop of vanilla if you want to.
In the Recipe card below, I share quantities slightly larger, for one big single serving.
When and where to use single serving Frosting
Here are some fun ideas and ways to enjoy Frosting for 1:
- Have a cupcake with no frosting, or a piece of cake? Voila: Spread it on!
- What about waffles or pancakes when you want to make them more special!
- After traveling to France as a teenager, I also learned to spread frostings like this onto good bread!
- Craving chocolate? Just mix up a batch, and eat it by the spoonful. ๐
- Make a sandwich with Frosting for One + Banana slices. Or Frosting for One + Peanut butter/favorite nut/seed butter.
- For AIP, use the carob version of this recipe, and make a sandwich with tiger nut butter using AIP bread.
How to store Frosting
Transfer frosting to an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
