How to Increase Bone Mass with Zeolite is an exciting post that gives us an action plan for how to begin gaining bone mass almost immediately — at any age!
As you’ll see, studies show progress for osteoporosis through the use of zeolite.

What is zeolite
If you’re not already familiar with zeolite, learn more here:

How zeolite increases bone mass
Many medical studies show zeolite increasing bone mass in modern day patients. (I explore those studies more below.)
In this article, we look at the proven bone mass benefits of using ZeoCharge supercharged zeolite, which is an enhanced zeolite — one that’s been cleaned and charged.
Cleaning
Natural zeolites often contain impurities that reduce effectiveness. Treatments like acid, alkaline or salt washing — referred to as “cleaning” — can remove these impurities and improve structural properties (e.g., surface area, porosity), enhancing their ability to adsorb heavy metals.
Increased Capacity/Storage
“Charged” zeolites have active ion-exchange sites ready to bind heavy metal ions. Cleaning treatments boost these sites, increasing the zeolite’s capacity to bind and store metals.
Cleaned ZeoCharge has all the properties we need to achieve incredible health goals, including an increase in bone mass.
How ZeoCharge increases bone mass
I asked the president of Zeolite Labs why he believes ZeoCharge zeolite increases bone mass. He pointed out:
A healthier body supports healthier bones. ZeoCharge contributes positively to bone health by helping enhance overall nutrient bioavailability while decreasing physiological stress and reducing toxic metal burden. In particular, the reduction of heavy metals such as cadmium and lead — both known to negatively affect bone density — can significantly improve mineral absorption and bone remineralization.
As for scientific studies, an OsteoStrong clinic has reported remarkable improvements in Bone Mineral Density (BMD) outcomes after incorporating Zeocharge zeolite-clinoptilolite into their protocols.
Another study (see “ZeoCharge™ Improving Calcium”) shows a woman who first worked with a functional medical doctor and spent six thousand dollars on a specialty calcium supplement. Testing shows she could not increase her calcium levels. After adding in Zeocharge for just two months, testing showed heavy metals decreased significantly and allowed calcium absorption.
The best way to increase bone mass with zeolite
Let’s explore how zeolite may be used to support bone mass improvement.
Before we discuss dosing, we’re going to discuss which Vitamin K2 to take — because this vitamin gives our bodies the best advantage overall when building bone.
Vitamin K is involved in activating proteins that help regulate calcium in the body, specifically moving it into bones and away from soft tissues.
Which Vitamin K2 to take to build bone
- Avoid K2 with D3 — While it’s too expansive a topic to explain fully here, I’ll hit on some highlights of why to avoid oral Vitamin D (instead choose light sources):
- The prevalence of osteoporosis seems to be highest in countries where calcium and vitamin D intake is sufficient.
- People often have normal plasma D levels from supplements but still experience low vitamin D activity. This happens more frequently in those with hypothyroidism or high cortisol levels, conditions increasingly common among women.
- Oral vitamin D causes a buildup of calcium in the blood and soft tissues, plus a depletion of potassium. We don’t want vitamin D in our blood, from taking pills; we need our bodies to produce it naturally after exposure to light.
- Read more details on light exposure here (including safe tanning beds and home vitamin D lamps).
- Don’t choose MK7 — MK7 actually slows detox processes. Many of us took this form for years without knowing. Now that this information is better understood, it’s time to switch to MK4. (Find it here.)
- Choose MK4 or a combination of MK4 and MK1 — To learn more about why MK4 is superior to MK7, I recommend this video.
Dosing of MK4
Firstly, be aware the dosing for MK7 and MK4 is very different. If you’re used to taking a certain amount of MK7, it may look like your dose of MK4 is too high, when it’s actually correct, in order to be beneficial.
MK7 doses are in micrograms (mcg), whereas MK4 doses are in milligrams (mg).
Other vitamins, minerals and fiber to consider
In addition to adding in Vitamin K2-MK4, consider removing or adding these based on studies:
- Harvard Medical School and other studies link vitamin A intake to osteoporosis: “Although doctors have long known that very large amounts of vitamin A are toxic, studies show that modest doses previously considered safe can increase your risk of fracture.” Look into reducing vitamin A and a low vitamin A diet here.
- Consider supplementing with magnesium, which dissolves calcium deposits. (Read more here.)
- Finally, this important study shows us that increasing soluble fiber increases bone calcium retention in post menopausal women. Probably the best source of soluble fiber is unpeeled apples. Everyone in our family eats at least one apple a day.

How much zeolite to take to build bone mass
Zeolite not only builds bone mass; its main role is detoxifying the entire body. How different doses of zeolite make you feel will be the determining factor for dose: “The higher the dose, the less likely a detox reaction and redistribution of toxins will occur. The ideal situation while detoxing is that you either feel better or you don’t feel anything at all. Experiencing detox reactions is a sign of an inefficient detox.”
Learn more here about why a higher dose is better. For our purposes of building bone, the higher dose also offers more balancing of minerals.
Dose details
I’m going to quote ZeoCharge for dosing: “The general rule is to start with a single dose of 10 grams per day. If a headache or other detox symptoms occurs it is recommended to double the dose. It is important to note that the dose theory is not for a cumulative intake of zeolite throughout the day. It is for one dose of zeolite. Taking small amounts of zeolite throughout the day will not provide the same results as taking one large dose.
The recommendation of 10 grams is for a 150 pound individual. The dose can be adjusted based on weight.
General Zeolite Dose Principles:
The healthier you are, the less you need.
If you experience a detox reaction take more, not less.
More is better, within reason.
The dosing really depends on the level of toxicity in your body. A healthier person won’t need as high of a dose for as long.
Dosing strategy:
Healthy people- 5 grams per day, taken all at once
Not healthy- Between 10-30 grams per day, taken all at once
What to do if you started with too low of a dose and you are experiencing headaches or other detox reactions:
You could take another dose right away and see if that helps. It may or may not because the redistribution of metals and toxic elements is already occurring.
Stop taking the product and let your body reset. Once it is back in balance start again except this time with a higher dose.”

And now, in closing, how the medical world is using zeolite to increase bone density …
How the medical world is using zeolite to increase bone mass
Medical studies show that zeolite increases bone mineral density, reduces pain and improves quality of life in patients with osteoporosis.
The studies use an enhanced zeolite, like ZeoCharge, but they’ve patented theirs for medical use. Their patented product is called PMA-zeolite-clinoptilolite; the impurities are removed and the specific surface area and porosity of natural zeolites increased.
As one study shares, “… patients treated with PMA-zeolite-clinoptilolite showed an increase in bone mineral density, an elevated level of markers indicative of bone formation, a significant reduction in pain, and significantly improved quality of life compared with patients in the control (placebo) group.”
The medical community increasingly understands that zeolite inhibits bone resorption, enhances bone synthesis and can promote osteogenesis (bone formation).
While much of the medical community maintains that increasing bone mass beyond a certain age is not possible without major medical interventions, some in the medical community are successfully using this zeolite strategy now, while new studies are continuing to be published and gathered on the topic.
Conclusion: How to start
- Consider supplementing with Vitamin K2-MK4. (Find it here.)
- Once you receive your zeolite, begin by selecting your appropriate dose. Many experts suggest starting with the full dose in the evening — after dinner and one to two hours before bedtime — alongside your nighttime supplements. Zeolite can generally be combined with most supplements, but avoid taking it within one hour before or after using synthetic supplements or colloidal silver. Ask your doctor if you have medications.
- If any daytime symptoms arise, you may consider taking an additional dose during the day. (Eventually, I figured out this method works best for me. I take 20g each morning, and 20g each night [otherwise I get copper symptoms during the day that a higher night time dose doesn’t affect]. Most people do best with one evening dose.)

When they tested my Vitamin D it was 4. I spent a lot of time in the sun mowing on my mini-farm but my Vitamin D was still that low. Also I already had osteoporosis in my early 30’s. I started taking megadoses of Vitamin D (50,000 iu a week) and my health improved, my teeth and gums improved, I never got sick. My artery scans are zero, so no calcium buildup in my arteries. I’m 69 now.

Hi Cheryl, I would never go against what anyone’s doctor told them to do, and I’m so glad you got the results you were looking for. I can’t speak to individual cases, conditions, labs or symptoms. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Megan
I’ve been taking zeolite for about a week and increasing my dose because of headaches and skin eruptions- how helpful your suggestions! As I move forward here’s some questions for you:
What, if any, symptoms might present that indicate I am taking too much? I know as I detox my needs will
shift and I dont wanna be taking more than I need. Mostly because it’s soo expensive and it makes me feel dehydrated even though I drink lots of fluids.
Also, what about the copper bisglycinate (1mg) I take with my well-researched Osteo-Sustain calcium supplement (Dimacal)? Is that considered a toxic metal I need to detox? Thanks so much for your guidance!
Megan says
Hi Keith, happy to help! If you’re feeling dehydrated, are you taking potassium? Adding it to your water is a game-changer for hydration. Just in case: https://eatbeautiful.net/2-ingredient-potassium-water-recipe-easiest-electrolyte-water/
I’m so glad to hear that the zeolite is going well so far. (Just to be sure most people understand: It’s actually really hard to take too much, as far as seeing symptoms; the concern is more making sure you don’t have symptoms from taking too little. As an example, both Jeff, the owner of Zeolite Labs, and I, have taken over 100g a day of zeolite, and I think that Dr. Smith has done this also.) But, I get that budget is a real issue. And hopefully, adding in the potassium helps you with dehydration. So … to answer your question, the only symptom that can present from taking huge amounts of zeolite is slowing of the bowels. Poops bulk up so much and become bigger, harder to pass. I wouldn’t say it causes constipation, though. Find your dose where you have no symptoms, but you’re still high enough be in that beneficial detox zone: a minimum of 10 to 30 grams daily.
Yes, in Dr. Smith’s opinion (and mine), you should stop taking both the copper supplement and the calcium. The calcium we should get from food sources. Here’s a list: https://eatbeautiful.net/high-calcium-foods-anti-inflammatory-dairy-free-free-pdf-list/ And yes, the copper you should start detoxing. 🙂 Happy for you! These are good times when we start on this road!
