Fruit Coffee Smoothie Bowl combines the amazing flavors of coffee, herbs and berries with granola and chocolate. My favorite smoothie bowl ever! Paleo and/or Gluten-free — with added collagen protein for a well-rounded snack or meal!
Fruit Coffee Smoothie Bowl is rapturous visually and … when you eat it! Synonyms include:

Organic Instant Coffee
This recipe uses instant coffee, but you can also use regular coffee grounds if you prefer, which have a great texture, actually!
The most delicious and surprising flavor feature in this bowl is instant organic coffee or decaf coffee. (Yes, you can use herbal coffee, too.)
Favorite smoothie bowl bite from this recipe?: Coffee + granola with smoothie underneath.
The flavor and texture are incredible.
Raspberries and/or strawberries
Frozen strawberries and/or ruby red frozen raspberries are perfect, too, will all the flavors of this bowl, and they’re two of the best fruits to buy frozen. They defrost quickly, have a noticeable sweet and delicious flavor, and they’re … beautiful.
The right amount of liquid
One key feature of this recipe is its ratio.
If you’d like to make various kinds of smoothie bowls this recipe gives you the right ratio of frozen fruit to your choice of milk/fresh juice/honey water.
Having it be thick is what allows the decorative toppings to sit on top. And it’s what allows you to eat it with a spoon, like a bowl of healthy ice cream!
If you have a Vitamix, you’ll like the tamper tool, allowing easy blending with thick contents. If you have the Blendtec, they have a new Twister Jar, for the same purpose.
(Otherwise, you may need to start and stop occasionally to keep the contents moving and the air bubbles by the blades popped.)
Granola
Use your favorite store bought or homemade. Choose regular oat granola, or for Paleo, use grain-free.
Here’s the best grain-free granola recipe (hands down). It’s perfect. If you aren’t already making this Paleo goodness, I need to humbly suggest that you begin (you’ll love the texture and everything about it!).
Hibiscus
Another exciting topping on this smoothie bowl? Hibiscus! — Optional, but otherwise, it goes great with these flavors.
Just like coffee, you don’t have to steep it first to enjoy its essence — super fruity and super lemony, plus pretty and just plain delicious.
(Use hibiscus on your smoothie bowl by quickly whizzing it in your coffee grinder until it’s powdered.)
(See here how I used it as a donut topping and here how I used it in Raw Energy Balls.)
Pomegranate on smoothies
These are optional, but awesome if you’re making this recipe in the fall or winter.
Pomegranates — They’re the garnet-like smoothie ornament that sparkles and tells us all… it’s fall and soon to be winter! These juicy fruits are bright and beautiful against the changing landscape.

Historically symbols of prosperity, ambition and fertility, pomegranates are high in fiber and an ancient beautiful food.
In spring and summer, use fresh strawberries instead!
Fruit Coffee Smoothie Bowl
Equipment
Ingredients
- 5 cups frozen fruit: strawberries and watermelon are my favorite combination; or use some banana if you want to leave out all sweeteners; cooked frozen chunks of beet are also delicious and beautiful when combined with strawberries
- 2 cups milk of choice: raw, coconut, nut or seed milk of choice
- 3 to 4 Tablespoons honey or pure maple syrup, to taste (optional)
- 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder fair trade, or toasted carob powder
- 1 to 2 scoops collagen <--see link below and use code BEAUTIFUL10 at checkout for 10% off your entire order
- 2 Tablespoons organic instant coffee I use decaf, or use regular if you prefer.
- ¾ to 1 cup pomegranate seeds
- 1 to 2 Tablespoons hibiscus petals whirled in coffee grinder to powder
- ¾ to 1 cup granola homemade or store bought
- ¾ to 1 cup raspberries fresh or frozen
Instructions
- Place the following items in high-powered blender: frozen fruit, milk of choice, cocoa or carob powder, honey or other optional sweetener, collagen and just 1 Tablespoon of the instant coffee. Blend on medium speed 30 to 50 seconds, using tamper as needed to keep the smoothie moving (preventing air bubbles by the blade).
- Pour smoothie into pretty bowls and decorate with toppings that are in-season at the time: fresh strawberry slices, pomegranate seeds, remaining 1 Tablespoon instant coffee, powdered hibiscus, granola and raspberries. Enjoy!
