These 15 Back to School Muffin Recipes are the same ones I use each school year! I bake up batches, put them in the freezer, and feel so relaxed and happy each morning as I “throw” a muffin into everyone’s lunches. My kids and husband have big appetites, so I always need that one more thing to be sure they have enough food — and I don’t want to buy too many cheap or expensive packaged foods to make up the difference.
Everyone loves homemade muffins in their lunch, so these recipes are staples September through June each year. Choose your favorites to bake up some healthy treats.
All the muffins in this round up are gluten free and dairy free. Most are also Paleo, and many are AIP, Vegan, egg-free, Keto, GAPS etc. I’ve labeled each muffin recipe so you can see if it’s right for you and your family.
Blueberry Muffins
Blueberry Muffins are a classic nut-based recipe. The muffins turn out perfectly, and you don’t have to use almond flour. You can use any nut you like. Use almond flour for convenience, or choose another you prefer. Seed flours work well, too. So have fun with this easy recipe, and be a little creative if you like. (GF, Paleo, GAPS)

Egg-free Blueberry Muffins
These Gluten-free, Paleo muffins are also egg-free and AIP. They’re a classic recipe, so delicious, and no one will know they’re egg free and grain-free.

Oat Flour Blueberry Banana Muffins
This recipe’s gluten-free, but not Paleo. It’s also Vegan, so egg-free. You’ll love the wholesome oat flour used in this recipe, making it a great baked good for long lasting energy and gentle fiber.

Blueberry Banana Muffins
The last of this round-up’s blueberry muffins, Blueberry Banana Muffins originated one hot summer when all my yellow bananas kept going brown, AND we had a lot of fresh blueberries. But nicely, these muffins are great year round with frozen berries, too. (Gluten-free, Paleo)

Morning Glory Muffins
Morning Glory Muffins might help get your kiddos out of bed and happy for school? But even if they start out sleepy, these treats will make them enthusiastic about having muffins in their lunch. A reader loved recipe that’s also high in protein. (Gluten-free, Paleo, Keto)

Chamomile Muffins
For those kids who love flowers or herbs, these Chamomile Muffins get praise wherever I serve them. They’re perfectly textured, and their flavor is lovely, just like chamomile. (Gluten-free, Paleo)

One of my favorite muffin recipes, these indulgent treats are great when you need an extra special chocolate lunchbox item that’s still nourishing. Paleo Chocolate Muffins bake up jumbo and have an amazing optional chocolate glaze. (Gluten-free, Paleo)

Carob Muffins
Kids especially need good sources of nutrition and not too much copper, while they’re growing and through the teenage years. That’s why I love subbing in carob for cacao and teaching my kids how good carob can taste. I LOVE these Carob Muffins and hope your kids do, too. (Gluten-free, Paleo, VAD)

Cranberry Muffins
Cranberry Muffins show how good egg-free baking can be, with the perfect texture, and a festive flavor profile, especially for the fall and winter months. (Gluten-free, Paleo, AIP)
