Apple Ginger Iced Tea is a refreshing late summer or early fall mocktail made with apple juice and spicy ginger tea. Serve it ice-cold as an easy electrolyte drink or party punch, or heat it up for a cozy Apple Ginger Tea that tastes a little like hot apple cider.
This delicious drink is perfect for the end of summer and beginning of fall — celebrating the final warm days of summer and the apple harvest!
Robust in flavor and perfect for entertaining, you might think of this recipe as an Apple Ginger Mocktail or an easy Apple Ginger Punch.
Make this refreshing treat with freshly pressed apples or store-bought apple juice, your choice. Ginger tea is the second main ingredient. Together, apple and ginger create a super thirst-quenching, flavorful beverage that’s delicious enough to share with friends, guests and loved ones.
Side bonus: Yes, you can make this drink hot! I keep the iced tea in our fridge in a large 8-cup mason jar. Sometimes in the mornings, I pour some into a small saucepan and heat it up. It makes a really lovely Hot Apple Ginger Tea — almost like a light, gingery hot apple cider — to enjoy with breakfast.

Apple Ginger Iced Tea Ingredients
Choose between just 2 and 4 ingredients, depending on how you’re serving your Apple Ginger Tea and how active your lifestyle is.
I sweeten the tea a little more when I’m serving guests, but let the apple juice alone sweeten it when I’m making it for myself. If you’re especially active and sweating — for example, teenagers playing sports or anyone coming home from a hike — the added sweetener also complements the flavor nicely.
I also add potassium for myself and when I want this to function as an electrolyte drink, especially after sweating or activity. Potassium is an electrolyte, so this optional addition makes the drink especially nice when you’re looking to replenish fluids and electrolytes — a must for summer and for my family.
Ingredients
- apple juice, organic unfiltered
- ginger tea, made with 4 cups water + 4 tea bags (Squeeze the tea bags into the tea after steeping to get all their spicy flavor.)
- agave nectar, honey or pure maple syrup, optional, but use it for the best overall flavor
- potassium chloride, optional but recommended for best hydration (electrolytes)
How to make Apple Ginger Iced Tea
- Boil water. Add tea bags. Allow to steep 15 minutes. Squeeze out any extra water from tea bags into tea.
- Pour apple juice into large jar, with minimum 8 cup capacity (with headroom). Add tea, sweetener and potassium. Stir with long wooden spoon about 30 seconds, to dissolve ingredients.
- Chill in fridge for ideally 3 hours, or longer. Serve over ice.
- To enjoy warmed up, pour into saucepan, and heat until steamy hot! (Or heat in microwave by the mug.) Enjoy.
Apple Ginger Tea lasts in the fridge at least 7 days.
