Oatmeal Banana Berry Smoothie with no added sweetener is a wonderful meal replacement -- with fiber, protein, carbs, vitamins and minerals. Or, enjoy it alongside a healthy protein. This delicious breakfast or hearty snack provides macronutrients, and it's satisfying.
What surprised me the most when I first made it was just how GOOD it tastes, with no added sweetener.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 banana frozen
  • 3 ice cubes
  • 3/4 cup blueberries and strawberries (3/4 cup total of both fruits combined), fresh or frozen (chop strawberries only if they're frozen); be sure to use all frozen berries for a thicker, slushier smoothie.
  • 1-3/4 cup oat milk or preferred milk of choice (you can also use kefir); use only 1-¼ to 1-½ cups milk for a thicker, slushier smoothie.

Instructions

  • Place ingredients into blender in the order they're listed: oats, banana, ice cubes, berries, then oat milk.
  • Start blending at slower speed, then increase as the harder items are processed. Increase speed, and blend until smooth, 45 to 60 seconds. Serve!

Notes

Optional add-ins

Two add-ins may be helpful for your healthy diet and lifestyle:
  1. collagen -- While collagen isn't a complete protein, it does provide needed "non-essential" amino acids that help increase one's overall protein intake daily.
  2. electrolyte powder (find it here) -- Almost everyone needs more potassium in their diet. This essential mineral helps with energy, motility, sleep and more. Adding electrolytes to smoothies is a great way to encourage good heart, muscle and nerve health -- and increase energy levels.
