Electrolyte Ginger Lemonade is perfectly satisfying, thirst quenching, rejuvenating and delicious. You've found what just might be the quintessential electrolyte drink recipe. Enjoy when the weather is hot, or with exertion! This recipe is refined sugar-free, sweetened lightly with honey. Enjoy for most healthy diets, including Ancestral, Paleo, AIP, VAD, Gluten-free, GAPS, and sub agave or maple syrup for Vegan.
1/8teaspoonsea saltor I recommend either: Potassium Salt or Homemade Electrolyte Powder, for more of the electrolyte minerals we need. (The nutritional data below would thus change, providing you with over 200 mg of potassium.)
Instructions
Stir or whisk together all ingredients, in large pitcher or mason jar with lid, until honey and sea salt are fully dissolved.
Chill if desired. Optionally strain through fine mesh strainer, and optionally serve over ice. (For rehydrating, I prefer this drink not too cold [chilled but no ice].) Serve!Regarding straining, your Electrolyte Ginger Lemonade will have the full and delicious ginger flavor simply from whisking the ingredients together. The finely grated ginger will sink to the bottom of serving glasses if you choose not to strain, but it's not needed for flavor. I prefer to strain it out as it's an easy step, but also fine to leave it in.
Notes
Fresh herb variation
If you love summery flavors and want to make this drink more special, perhaps for a party: Sub Basil Simple Syrup for the honey.Garnish with fresh lemon slices and sprigs of fresh basil leaves.
